Note : There are five questions in this paper. Question no. 1 is compulsory and caries 30 marks. Attempt any three from the rest.

1. (a) “Multimedia is not just Hardware but also Software”. Comment on the above statement.
(b) What are the various multimedia hardware components? What additional components of hardware will be needed in case you want to download multimedia contents from the internet?
(c) What is MIDI in the context of multimedia? Describe one application of it.
(d) Describe the basic feature of any one of the following authoring tools:
(i) Macromedia Director
(ii) Authorware Professional

2. A multimedia tutorial is to be developed for delivery through internet. How will you plan and develop the application?

3. For making a digital multimedia one has to use many different types of packages in addition to authoring tools. Describe features of the packages (other than authoring tools) that might be needed for development of multimedia.

4. Suggest various areas where multimedia can be used in a university. Take any one of suggested area/application and define its objectives, prospective viewers, resource requirements and advantages/disadvantages.

5. Describe how multimedia can be used in the following:
(a) A hospital
(b) Bank
(c) Bus stand
