How to Apply? - Instruction to Fill Application Form Online

If you are a first time applicant you are advised to click the available programme tab on the homepage of the Online Admission System and select the desired programme and carefully read the details of programme including eligibility criteria, fee details, duration, etc. You are also requested to download the Common Prospectus 2015-16 and read carefully the rules of the University (Section 06) as mentioned in the common prospectus. You may also read section 1, 7, 8, 9, 12 and 13.
   
   1. Click on the button "REGISTER YOURSELF" that appears in the applicant login area and fill the required registration details.
   2. Remember, while choosing your UserName it must be in between 8 to 16 characters.
   3. While choosing your password it must be alphanumeric and between 8 to 16 characters long.
   4. After filling the mandatory information click the "SUBMIT" button.
   5. Your username will be instantly sent to you via e-mail and SMS.

Admission Introduction:

The Ph.D programme in Women's Studies is aimed at providing doctoral candidates with the opportunity to pursue research in the interdisciplinary area of Women's Studies under the guidance of senior faculty members and scholars from the field. Depending on the level of preparedness, candidates may be asked to undertake required coursework before embarking on doctoral research. Research areas are determined by the candidates with the help of a doctoral committee and in consultation with individual supervisors. The programme is aimed at creating a pool of scholars and experts in the growing field of Women's Studies.

IGNOU PHDWS Eligibility Criteria:

1. M.Phil Degree/ NET in the Women’s Studies/ Master degree with 5yeras teaching or research experience in a related field with demonstrative evidence of research publication/interest in areas relevant to women’s studies.

Eligiblity Criteria for Direct Admission to Ph.D in Women’s Studies:

1. Minimum criteria: M.Phil in Women’s/Gender Studies or in relevant discipline with evidence of coursework taken/research done in the area of women’s or gender issues, with at least 55% marks. Credit exemption may be given for relevant coursework and additional coursework may be recommended by the doctoral committee. Admission will be subject to fulfillment of other university criteria as per the IGNOU Research Ordinance.
2. Additional criteria: Besides the minimum criteria, screening will be done based on the following criteria - academic performance at M.Phil/ Master’s level, postgraduate degree in women’s or gender studies, no. of years of teaching/research experience, and demonstrable evidence of research publications/interest in women’s and gender issues. Selections will be done on the basis of the above criteria by the screening committee and the doctoral committee. The university reserves the right not to admit candidates to the Ph.D programme in Women's Studies as per the decisions of the doctoral committee.

Admission Introduction:

The Ph.D. programme will contribute to refining and standardizing methodology and development of research tools. Inquiry into gender as a crosscutting analytical theme across all development sectors needs application of both traditional and innovative research design. Need assessment undertaken with non-governmental organizations and experts in the field highlights focal research needs linked to planning and implementing gender-sensitive development projects; skill enhancement in gender-sensitive participatory action; planning and implementing gender awareness programmes for a range of target groups and conducting gender impact studies. Thus, appropriate and need-based research can lay the foundation for positive, affirmative interventions.

In future there is likely to be a rapidly expanding job market for persons highly qualified in areas linked to gender budgeting, gender mainstreaming and gender analysis in both governmental and non-governmental/ voluntary sectors. A Ph.D. qualification would be of importance for positions at supervisory and policy making levels.

IGNOU PHDGDS Eligibility Criteria:

Master’s degree with five-year teaching or work experience/ M.Phil. degree in any discipline with demonstratable evidence of research publications/ interest in areas relevant to Gender and Development Studies. Programme Structure

Introduction

Admission to Ph.D in Education is done in January session. All candidates are required to appear in admission test organized during August every year. Recipients of Junior Research Fellowship (UGC-JRF) are exempted from appearing in the entrance test.Candidates holding research degree (M.Phil/Ph.D) as well as teaching experience will also have to appear in the test.The programme is advertised in the month of June every year.

IGNOU PHDCDEV - Doctor of Philosophy in Child Development provides opportunities for interested scholars to undertake research in the area of child development from a multi-disciplinary perspective. Among others, it is open to professionals and scholars from fields such as Child Development, Human Development and Family Studies, Education, Special Education, Psychology, Sociology and Social Work.

Introduction

The doctoral studies programme in Education aims at training professionals in education in the skills and competencies related to systematically organizing investigations into various concerns and problems in education. To begin with, the programme is offered mainly to those who possess the degree of MPhil (Education). This programme consists of only thesis work and involves no course-work.

IGNOU PHDRD Eligibility Criteria:

1. Those possessing MARD with B grade are included as a category eligible for enrolment in Ph D Programme in Rural Development, provided they submit two papers on their chosen subject for Ph.D and subject to their acceptance by the Doctoral Committee.
2. Those who possess M.Phil in any subject, (other than Rural Development) may take three compulsory course; namely;
   
   
   • MRD-101 Rural Development-Indian Context
   • MRD-103 Rural Development Planning & Management
   • MRD-104 Research Methods in Rural Development
   • However, the Doctoral Committee may exempt a candidate from taking the Research methodology course, if they feel so.
3. Those from other streams (other than Rural Development) not having M.Phil will have to undergo three compulsory courses and also submit two papers as outlined in item (i) above.

Mode of Selection

There is no entrance test for enrolment to PhD in Rural Development. The mode of selection is as follows:

1. The candidate is expected to identify a topic for pursuing PhD degree in Rural Development, after thorough review of literature on the subject.
2. The candidate then prepares project proposal on the topic, either independently or with the help of a local supervisor to be identified by the candidate. (A brief note for facilitating applicants to write PhD proposal is available under SOCE at IGNOU website).
3. The proposal along with the application form is sent to the Research Unit, IGNOU.
4. The Research Unit, after initial scrutiny forwards the proposal and application to the School of Continuing Education.
5. The proposal is then subjected to initial examination by the PhD Coordinator/in house faculty and if found unsuitable, returned to the candidate with the comments and candidate is requested to resubmit.
6. If the proposal is cleared by the initial scrutiny, or resubmitted by the candidate after incorporating the suggestions as mentioned above, it is then sent to an expert member of the Doctoral Committee for examination.
7. The proposal along with the comments of the expert is then placed before the PhD Doctoral Committee for its examination and recommendations.
8. The Doctoral Committee may ask a candidate to make proposal presentation before the Doctoral Committee, if it feels so.
9. The recommendations of the Doctoral Committee are then placed before the School Board and subsequently before the Research Council.

Introduction

PhD Programme in Computer Science was launched in January 2009. The objective of the Programme is to train in research methodology, and to inculcate the spirit of innovation and research among the qualified faculty, scientists, engineers etc. required for the expansion of fundamental knowledge and technological innovation through research and development, as well as to meet the requirement of institutions of higher learning.

As per the New National Policy of Education, the emphasis is on the need for making higher education available within the reach of all. Launching of Post Basic B.Sc. Further, it will also contribute towards the growth of nursing profession, promote Nation’s idea of accelerating women’s education and uplifting the expanded and extended role of the nursing personnel. Admission

The admission will be made once a year for in-service nurses. The applications should be submitted on prescribed form so as to reach IGNOU before the due date. The application form can also be downloaded from here.

Programme Structure

The University follows the credit system for its various Degree programmes. Each credit amounts to 30 hours of study comprising all learning activities. Thus a four credit course involves 120 study hours and an eight credit course involves 240 study hours. To complete the Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme successfully, student will have to earn 108 credits over a period of 3 to 5 years depending on her/his convenience.

The Post Basic Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a three year Degree programme. This course has two major components: theory and practicals. It is divided into 22 courses; 11 theory and 11 practical.

Eligibility

In-service Nurses that is Registered Nurses and Registered Midwives (RNRM) having 10+2 with three years, Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of two years experience in the profession. (For male nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the Nursing courses of 6-9 months, duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

OR

In-service Nurses (RNRM) having 10th class (Matriculation) or its equivalent with three year, Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with minimum of five years experience in the profession. (For males nurses who have not done midwifery in the GNM programme should have a certificate in any of the nursing courses of 6-9 month, duration prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council in lieu of midwifery).

Duration of Programme

The minimum duration of the programme is three years. However, the students are given a maximum period of five years to complete the programme from the date of registration. After which the student have to apply for readmission paying the prorata fee for each incomplete course of theory.

Admission/Selection Procedure

Admission for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme for January, 2015 session will be done on the basis of merit decided through an entrance test.

Entrance Test

• Entrance test will be conducted on scheduled date as decided by the university, in the centres indentified all over the country.
• Entrance test will comprise 120 multiple choice questions (bearing one mark each) drawn from various subjects taught in GNM. Sample of questions asked in the entrance examination is provided in Appendix-X.
• The candidates will be provided OMR Sheet for marking the response. A sample of OMR sheet is attached at appendix XA.
• Duration of test will be two and a half hours.

Selection Procedure

• The merit list for admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing January, 2015 session will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the OPENNET – IV and will be displayed in the website within one week of the declaration of result.
• In case of two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the OPENNET – IV (Entrance Test), the inter-se ranking of such candidates shall be determined on the basis of the following criteria for tie break.
• • Length of relevant experience : Experience will be counted from the date of registration as RNRM upto the last date of receipt of application form as mentioned in the advertisement. In case of Female candidates who have registered as RN & RM separately, the experience will be counted from the date of RM registration. However, in male candidates, it will be calculated from the date of RN registration upto the last date of receipt of the application form subject to the completion of the INC recognized course in lieu of midwifery before applying for the entrance test.
  • Over all percentage of marks secured in GNM examination : If, the tie does not get resolved, aggregate marks of GNM in all the three years will be considered for calculating the percentage/merit.
  • Date of Birth: If the tie between the candidates still does not get resolved, date of birth will be considered. Candidates born earlier will have higher rank than those born later.
  • Draw of Lot: If there will be a tie even after applying all the above criteria, then rank will be decided through a draw of lot.

NOTE: The OBC certificate of non creamy layer should not be more than three years old from the date of issuance till the last date of submission of application form. The duration of experience, percentage of marks and the date of birth are being used for tie break, Information about all these three parameters mentioned in application form should match with the information available in the documents provided by you. In case, it does not match, the application form will be rejected.


Important points to be noted:

• The candidates who are offered admission are required to deposit the programme fee. Admission will be confirmed only after verification of original documents and receipt of admission Fee. The fee once deposited will not be refunded.
• Students must mention their email ID and mobile phone number in the application form. Otherwise it will be their responsibility to collect updated information related to counseling. IGNOU will not be responsible for nonreceipt of information in time.
• All the communication with candidates will be made only through the email ID opennet4@ignou.ac.in and IGNOU website. Therefore, you should ensure that your email ID is functional, written correctly and legibly.
• Programme Study Centre once allotted will not be changed

Programme Fees

• Programme Fee 15,000/- per annum which is subject to change from time to time.
• Candidate seeking admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing Programme are advised not to pay the fees along with the filled-in application form. They will get a separate communication about their admission and for payment of programme fee.
• The programme fee should be paid only by Demand Draft drawn in the favour of IGNOU. On the back of Demand Draft write your name, address and telephone number to ensure proper credit to your account. The details regarding deposition of programme fee will be informed during notification for counselling.

Introduction

The basic objective of the programme is to open a channel of admission for computing courses for students, who have done the 10+2 and are interested in taking computing/IT as a career. Eligibility Criteria and Selection Procedure

A candidate is eligible for Admission and Registration for the MPhil/PhD programme provided he/she has qualified:

(a) Master’s Degree of any recognized University/other qualification recognized as equivalent thereto in such fields of study as are notified for the purpose from time to time by the University. The minimum qualifying marks are 55% at Post Graduation level (50% in case of reserved categories), and

(b) Entrance Examination conducted by the University at the national level to be held on 23rd February 2014.

However, candidates holding MPhil degree from IGNOU or those candidates who have cleared JEST of DAE or UGC-NET or GATE of IIT will be exempted from appearing in the Entrance Examination.

The Entrance Examination will be conducted at the national level in the various cities where IGNOU Regional Centres are located for this purpose candidates are required to give their choice on column 6 of the Application Form.

Programme Fee

The PhD Programme Fee is Rs. 7,000/- per annum for 3 years. MPhil candidates are to pay one-time fee of Rs. 10,500/- which is inclusive of the Course Fee. M.Phil degree holders who have not be assigned course work will have to pay Rs.7,000/- per annuam for 2 years. (The fee as stated above is subject to revision as decided by the University from time-to-time).

Duration

For full time Scholars, the maximum durations of the PhD Programme and the MPhil programme are 5 years and 4 years respectively.

Scholarships and Fellowships

(a) Candidates who have qualified UGC-NET, GATE, JEST, etc. like ICSSR and have been awarded Fellowships by these and such other agencies are welcome to enroll for Doctoral Studies at IGNOU. The University will disburse the fellowships awarded to them as per the rules of the awarding agencies.

(b) The University also awards Fellowships (IGNOU-Research Fellowship) to full time PhD students of IGNOU. The objective of the IGNOU-RF scheme is to provide opportunities to full time research students who have no other financial support to undertake research leading to PhD degree in the disciplines offered by IGNOU. The tenure of IGNOU-RF is initially for a period of two years from the date of the award. If the research work is found satisfactory, fellowship for an additional year will be awarded to the candidate. There is no provision for extension beyond three years. The value of the award is Rs. 8,000/- pm for all three years presently.
